German police: Vinfast car fire due to technical error

According to police Spokesman Philipp Hüwe, the Vinfast fire in the showroom in Rudolfplatz, Cologne was caused by a technical fault. “We can rule out the possibility of outside influences and arson,” he told Thoibao.de.

As reported by Thoibao.de, in March, there was a big fire at the newly opened showroom of Vietnamese car manufacturer Vinfast. First, there was a fire in the bonnet of a car in the store. No one died or was injured. Firefighters had to break down the burning car dealership’s front door to get into the rooms. Several streets in the city of Cologne have been blocked off by firefighters.

As this was not an arson incident, the work of the Cologne police was temporarily ended. According to police Spokesman Hüwe, the file is currently being transferred to the Köln prosecutor’s office. There, a decision is made as to whether the cause of the technical failure should be investigated in more detail. In the case of technical failures, the cause is not always determined in Germany because such investigations are expensive.

Anyone who thinks this is a serious incident, and the cause of the fire still needs to be determined, can contact the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Cologne to ask for clarification. This request letter must be written in German or English and must give reasons why further investigation is required and be sent to E-Mail: posttelle@sta-koeln.nrw.de
